We are happy to announce that Fr. Kevin Mann, SJC has been appointed as the new Novice Director for the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius.
The Novice Director fulfills an important role in the Canons Regular, accompanying these men with fatherly care as they discern their religious vocation. Fr. Kevin will “discern and test the vocation of the novices, and gradually to form them to lead the life of perfection which is proper to the institute.” —Code of Canon Law
Fr. Kevin grew up in a devout Catholic family and initially pursued a career in medicine. It wasn’t until later in his journey that he discerned a call to the priesthood. After completing his undergraduate studies and scoring well on his MCAT, Father Kevin felt God calling him to a life of service to the Church. He entered the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius in 2006, where he embraced community life centered on the Sacred Liturgy. He was then ordained in 2014, and his priesthood has become a deep source of joy and fulfillment as he strives to live in union with Christ and serve His Church.
Fr. Kevin will continue to serve at St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Springfield for the coming year before returning to our House of Formation at St. John Cantius in June of 2025. At that time the Canon who will be replacing him in Springfield will be announced.
We are grateful to Fr. Kevin for his years of ministry and his assistance in establishing a House of the Canons Regular in Springfield. We ask that you please keep him and his new apostolate in your prayers.
We are also grateful to Br. Mark Visconti, SJC, who served as our Novice Director for the past four years. Br. Mark will take some time of rest and sabbatical to take care of family before continuing in various roles in the Canons Regular.
Please keep Fr. Kevin, and all who work in formation and leadership in our community, in your prayers.
