Following the success of the inaugural Canon's Wiffle Ball Classic in 2020, the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius have decided to bring it back for 2021. The Red Rascals and the Blue Bandits, the same two teams you have come to know and love, will face off on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31st at 11:00 AM CDT.
Nothing says summer in America like a baseball (or Wiffle Ball) game. The Canons are starting the day with the recitation of the Divine Office at 7:30 AM, followed by the celebration of Holy Mass at 8:00AM. After that, they will be hard at work setting up for the big game which begins 11:00 AM. Tune in to hear the National Anthems of the United States, Canada, and Poland, to honor the home countries of all players.
While the team names are the same as last year, the rosters have changed. There were some mid-season trades, angry free agents, and players who won't be able make the game. All and all, it looks like we will be in for a true battle between The Blue Bandits, managed by the newly ordained Fr. Nathan Ford, and the Red Rascals, managed by Br. Kevin "Save Big Money At" Menard(s).
"Last year was a lot of fun," said Menard, "but I think we took it too easy on them. This year...no mercy." Fr. Ford commented on Menard's remarks by saying, "I think Br. Kevin did a good job managing last year, but I think he is a little out of his league this year. We picked up his pitcher from last year, Fr. Trenton Rauck, and we believe he is going to be the X-Factor to help take us over the edge this year."
Tune in to the fun via live stream and help cheer on your favorite team!
