“Because God has made us for Himself, our hearts are restless until they rest in Him.”
~Saint Augustine
With thanks to God on the feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, and the birthday of our patron St. John Cantius, the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius welcomed 3 postulants.
Paul Bogan, from Battle Creek Michigan, taught 6-8th grade in a Classics school. While discerning, he was called to community life as lived by the Canons Regular.
David Monahan, of Clinton Illinois, is a convert to the Catholic Church. He was first introduced to the Canons Regular by his spiritual director.
Ethan Wersland is from Cle Elum in central Washington state, where he discovered the Canons Regular through online media.
Superior General Very Rev. Joshua S. Caswell, SJC welcomed the men saying “Today this community of brothers joyfully welcomes you. May this period of Postulancy be for you a time of grace and blessing.“
Fr. Matthew Shuster, Postulant Director, is entrusted with the formation and care of this class of postulants. During this period of formal discernment Fr. Matthew will lead the candidates to a fuller understanding of the common life as they live as brothers, joining in work and prayer.
Through participation in the Liturgical Office and Mass the postulants will gain a greater understanding of what it takes to become ‘zealous restorers of the Sacred’ with the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius.
We are thankful to God for His Providence which brought these young men to The Canons Regular of St. John Cantius. It is through the Grace of God and the prayers and sacrifices of our many supporters that our young religious order continues to grow. Please keep these postulants in prayer as they continue to grow in holiness and discern God’s call in their lives.
