Annual Benefit Dinner - A Success

On Sunday, September 8, 2024, friends of the Canons Regular of Saint John Cantius gathered with priests and brothers of the order for their 26th Anniversary Benefit Dinner. This evening included an elegant meal, lively entertainment, and one another’s company all with the cause of supporting the mission of Restoring the Sacred.

The priests and brothers of the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius wish to thank our friends and benefactors for their ongoing support as well as all those whose efforts made the evening a success.

“This celebration is also about each and every one of you, because without your response to the Holy Spirit, and your generosity, we would not be where we are today. Your presence here this evening, your prayers, and your contributions are a very real sign of your love for Our Lord and His Church.”—Fr. Joshua Caswell, SJC

Special guests included The Honourable Alderman Walter Burnett  familiar to those of us at St. John Cantius and all our River West neighbors, Alderman of the 27th Ward, Vice Mayor of Chicago, Most Rev. Bishop Paprocki, Bishop of Springfield, Most Rev. Bishop Andrej Dziuba, longtime friend of the Canons Regular and Bishop of Lowicz in Poland, Fr. Augustine Serafini, Community of Our Lady in Oshkosh, Wisconsin,  Bishop Mark Bartosic, Episcopal  Vicar of Vicariate II, and the Reverend Father Prior. Augustine Puchner, OPraem, Prior of Norbertines at their New foundation  in Springfield, Illinois.

Bishop Joseph Perry, retired Vicar for Vicariate VI, was gifted with an antique jeweled Crucifix as a sign of  gratitude for his more than 25 years of service as Bishop, and his friendship and support to the Canons Regular over the years.

Fr. John Kartje, rector of Mundelein Seminary delivered encouraging remarks about the men currently in formation at Mundelein Seminary, and the mutual enrichment between the Canon Regular and the other seminarians studying at Mundelein.

Special thanks to Mr. Justin Sheffield of Ashland Addison Florist for the beautiful table arrangements. We also thank Mrs. Esther Jula of EsteeG Photography and Mr. Damian Chlanda of Coffee with Damian for the beautiful photos from the evening.

Save the date and join us next year on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

All of your contributions, large or small, are greatly appreciated and will continue to help us support our men in formation as we continue our mission to restore the sacred.
